To Public Opinion and the Mapuche People, we state the following:
1. On March 5th, 2009 half a dozen armed policemen violently raided the home of Ignacio Andrés Gutiérrez Coña, young Mapuche militant of the Arauco Malleco Coordinating Committee Support Network (Red de Apoyo a la CAM) in the area of Rulo, township of Nueva Imperial. This ridiculous police circus is purposely creating another political/judicial set-up that intends to absurdly accuse our peñi [brothers] of the actions of resistance which occurred on an estate close to the town of Lautaro, on the mourning of January 12th, 2009, against the large-landed estate owner Pablo Hardener.
2. We directly denounce the Chilean State for arbitrarily linking our peñi with this action which occurred on the estate pertaining to Hardener, the usurper. This entire set-up responds to the pressure on the Chilean State, by the part of businesses and estate owners, to find those responsible for the acts of resistance that Mapuche communities have carried out and that mark a new era of struggle as the Mapuche Nation.
3. The Chilean State, has continued with its policy of genocide against our people by holding peñi Coña in the Angol detention centre for a little more than two weeks, accusing him of "arson, intent of murder and terrorist injury," as well as "theft and simple arson," all under the Anti-Terrorist Law. Moreover, there is also a transfer order to the Valdivia penitentiary with the purpose of isolating him from his family, his peñi [brothers] and lamngen [sisters].
4. We categorically reject the harassment and police persecution of our peñi within the Support Network, which has been subject to a series of detentions raids, monitoring, set-ups, telephone tapping and threats throughout the course of the year.
5. A little more than a year after cowardly murder of our Weichafe [warrior] Matias Katrileo, we call out on all the Mapuche Communities, on on the conscious peñi [brothers] and lamngen [sisters] to not believe these vicious police set-ups and to continue resisting for the reclamation of our ancient rights and for the liberation of our Mapuche Nation.
For the Immediate Freedom of All the Mapuche Political Prisoners! Stop the Militarization of Wallmapu! If They Use White Law, There Will Be Mapuche Justice! Katrileo LIVES!! MARRICHIWEU!!
