Mininco Forestry Inc. Launches a New Attack Against the Rucañanko Community

A new judicial attack has been launched against the Juana Millahual Community of Rukañanco, which has resided in reclaimed territory from Mininco Forestry Inc. for over a decade.
This time, the Public Ministry (Prosecutor's Office) and the local regional government of Arauco obey the orders of Mininco and begin a new political-judicial procedure against the Lonko (Chief) of the community, Ivan Llanquileo.

The accusations have to do with the territorial control the community has carried out over its lands, consisting of the construction of homes within the reclaimed estate, the harvest for the livelihood of their families and the implementation of the Guillatun, Llellipun, and Palin.
This immanent prosecution for occupation organized by Mininco already includes protected witnesses and sets responsibility on Lonko (Chief) Llanquileo for his leadership role.
As a cover-up for a latter political land claims trial, the Lonko (Chief) is accused of "Reception of stolen goods," and "Illegal possession of fire arms," for which the preparation of trial began yesterday in Cañete.

This meticulous setup consists of three bedspreads, a couch, tablecloths and other items common to any household. The firearms are in regards to hunting cartridges found in a storeroom and other projectiles for various hunting riffles.

It should be noted that the elements were found during a raid to the community on August 31st, 2007. It was at this time that the police magically found a M-16 riffle in a shack of the community, causing the incarceration of Ivan Llanquileo for 12 months until last January 9th, 2009.

Throughout all this time, the prosecution for the riffle in military court, has failed to invent sufficient evidence to keep him in protective custody, much less to convict him.
The investigation should finalized within the next 30 days, meanwhile the Lonko is to sign in once a month in Coltulmo, along with sign-ins at the military court in Concepcion. The trial is set to begin on June 18th at 12 noon in Cañete.
