Hector Llaitul Carrillanca : Hunger strike end

I Hector Llaitul Carrillanca, Mapuche Political Prisoner and Leader of the Arauco Malleco Coordinating Committee (CAM), communicate the following to the Mapuche Nation, the peoples of Chile and the World:

1. That today, Sunday December 30, 2007, I end my part in the hunger strike that we initiated on October 10 of this year, leaving death as my only other alternative. This would conclude a total of 81 days without ingesting nutrition, having lost more than 26 kg of weight, plus possible physical complications.

2. I assume this measure at the request of my closest loved ones, my organization, and pu lonko that have lead important processes of struggle, with the objective of of salvaging my health for future demands.

3. The government has igonored our demands, despite having made the longest hunger strike in Chilean history. I WARN THAT THIS LACK OF RESPONSE ON BEHALF OF THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT A DEFEAT TO US, BUT A TRUE DECLARATION OF WAR ON THE MAPUCHE PEOPLE. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT TO DO BUT CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE SINCE OUR PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LEFT A CLEAR MESSAGE THAT THE CHILEAN STATE IS INDEED FASCIST AND TERRORIST.

4. All throughout the world, the Chilean State's cruelty to the Mapuche Nation has been known, and that their only political will has been that of repressing and violating our political, territorial and human rights.

- Mapuche Political Prisoners exist in Chile, whom are tortured, and whose elemental rights are violated in jail.
- The Chilean State holds Marshall Law over Mapuche communities, and are constantly being repressed.
- The Chilean State promotes and armes paramilitary groups connected to the Chilean fascist right, large landed estate owners and forestry companies that act with impunity against the Mapuche People.

5. Let the Chilean State know that they will have to deal with permanent strikes and mobilizations while there are still Mapuche Political Prisoners remain in chilean jails. We exert political prison as just another trench for the liberation of the Mapuche Nation.

6. I give my utmost political and human support to "lamnien" Patricia Troncoso Robles, and respect her decision to continue the hunger strike to the very end. From now I call on the responsiblity of the Chilean Government and its President Michelle Bachelet of any fatal outcome.

7. Finally, I would like to emphasize and salute those brothers and sisters who in different places continue to mobilze and struggle for the POLITICAL DEMANDS stated in this hunger strike. It should not be detained.

In this way, I also salute all the brothers and sisters that exert TERRITORIAL CONTROL IN OUR MAPUCHE TERRITORY OF WALLMAPU, to our pu weichafe, and especially to our pu lonko, that have taken on clandestinity with dignity.

We shall continue preparing ourselves to further challenges, that will surely come, since injustice only generates more resistance and struggle.

With the strength of our Futa Keche Kuifi and Weftun (the rebirth of the new warriors), that germinate and multiply throughout all of WALLMAPU, for a just cause that becomes a more sacred cause day by day.
